Eritrea

Eritrea’s development will remain hampered by macroeconomic imbalances and an authoritarian regime that is highly suspicious of outside influences. Real GDP will rise gradually in 2024-25, helped by the construction of the Colluli potash project, but outside the mining sector there will be little investment, owing to a difficult and obstructive operating environment. Security risks remain elevated, given the ongoing civil conflict in neighbouring Ethiopia.
